The eopt seagull with Philip Pride from Dreams Come True at the International Bognor Bridman Rally 2007.
EOTP Director Bryan Gartside took a leap of faith for Charity at the Bognor International Birdman Rally held annually at the seaside resort. Dressed as a giant seagull the intrepid, now seasoned, daredevil flyer took the plunge off the end of the pier – rather apt the ‘end of the pier’ Director leaps off the end of the pier – his stunt was also to help raise the profile of the 2008 event locally. The giant seagull? The brainchild of eotp graphics designer Mike Miller who first created ‘the gull’ for the eotp education section logo. The making of the larger than life costume came next via the hands of costumer Marilyn Henwood from Littlehampton. It was made to fly, or in Bryan’s case, sink, as he went to the bottom before eventually being hauled out of the cold water by the rescue team – never again, well until next year!
The seagull character will also be a feature of the new eotp film which is now in pre-production and promises the appearance of a giant lobster as well…
